Sydney, Australia. GPC Electronics, one of the largest contract manufacturers in the Australasian region, has achieved ISO14001:2000 certification.

The ISO 14001 is an environmental management standard that aims to minimize negative impacts on the environment caused by the activities of organizations.

Christopher Janssen, Managing Director of GPC Electronics said, “Customers are increasingly being driven to meet environmental requirements around the world. We already had a number of good environmental practices in place, but this certification provides a platform on which we can extend those procedures.” 

He said that, “GPC Electronics does not exist solely to make a profit but also to make a contribution to society. Environmentally aware manufacturing practices help to minimize the impact on the planet at every stage of the supply chain - from our suppliers through to the end customer. ”

Most OEMs don’t yet require their contract manufacturers to have ISO14001 but because the environment will continue to be such a hot issue, it is inevitable that it will become mandatory. 

GPC Electronics’ business model is to manage the product supply for its customers. The ISO14001 certification enables processes to be developed that will manage environmental factors for customers.
